I Put a Dollar Tree Dryer Sheet Holder on My Fridge for Instant Storage

My kitchen is decently organized, but it’s still a challenge to find just the right place to stash certain items. Either they’re awkwardly shaped, making them hard to put away in a cabinet, or I reach for them so often that I wind up leaving them out in a messy pile on the counter. My organized soul loves finding a happy home for everything, but not everything in the kitchen fits neatly into a cabinet or a drawer. 

While I was pondering the perfect place for keeping these tricky-to-store items, I spotted the smartest fix on Apartment Therapy that I knew would be the answer: using a Dollar Tree dryer sheet holder for storage on the fridge.

In the original video from creator Emma Villaneda (@thecraftedstudioco), she shows how Dollar Tree’s new magnetic dryer sheet holder is the smartest storage gem, even outside of the laundry room. In addition to using the sturdy organizer on her dryer for its intended purpose, she places one on the side of her trash can to hold trash bags and one on her fridge for holding tricky-to-store items or things to grab and go, like bulky tumblers and mail. 

I’m always on the lookout for clever storage solutions, so I headed straight to Dollar Tree to pick one up for myself. My washer and dryer sit under a shelf where I can’t reach the sides, and my trash can is made of plastic, so I knew the organizer would be going on my fridge.

I almost always have a water bottle or two sitting next to my sink waiting to be put away. The problem is that there’s no easy way to store those oversized Stanley tumblers in a cabinet. I popped the magnetic holder onto my fridge, and it seemed like the U-shaped opening was virtually made for water bottle handles — convince me otherwise! I’ll be leaving my favorite bottle there every night so I can easily grab and fill it on my way to the gym in the morning. I was impressed that the magnetic backing was strong enough to hold up even my heaviest water bottle.

I started brainstorming what else I often reach for but don’t have a neat place to store. I grabbed my Liquid IV drink pouches, which take up so much room in my cabinet in their bag, but if I take them out, they often get lost. Solution: Pop a bunch in the dryer sheet holder and they’ll always be easy to find! Next, I put napkins inside that I was previously storing in a drawer that’s too shallow for a proper napkin holder. They fit perfectly, and having napkins in the sightline of the fridge will hopefully remind my husband and kids to actually use them when they grab a snack.

Who doesn’t need a smart shelf to corral all those everyday items? You could also use it on your fridge to hold spices, bottle openers, scissors, or anything you want easily accessible that tends to get lost, like your cellphone or remote. I also put one on the back of my front door for my dog’s waste bags that makes it so easy to grab one as Lucky drags me out the door for his morning walk.

Honestly, this Dollar Tree dryer sheet holder left me wishing I had more magnetic surfaces in my house. Now, excuse me while I run to Dollar Tree to buy a few more!
