She Put a Dollar Tree Pill Organizer on Her Fridge, and I’m Going to Copy Her

As someone with ADHD, I have a tough time keeping track of everything in my apartment. That’s not because everything’s a mess, but rather because I can easily forget about something if I don’t see it. That means when something is placed inside a drawer, container, closet, or even on top of a crowded countertop, it very well may become invisible to me. 

Labels and lists can help, but, ultimately for me, visible storage is best. So when I recently learned about a clever way to store your daily medication so you always remember to take it, I knew it could be a smart solution for me. You just need a couple of items from Dollar Tree and your fridge (yes, really!).

This DIY pill organizer fridge hack comes from content creator Sarah Mitchell. In a video, she goes to Dollar Tree and comes home with a small round 7-day pill organizer ($1.25) and a round magnetic pink container ($1.25). 

The container has a detachable transparent lid and a magnet on the back. She then places the pill organizer inside the magnetic container, puts the lid on, and places it on the fridge. “This is great for remembering to take vitamins or anything else that you take daily because everybody opens the fridge,” she writes.

Some commenters didn’t love the fact that you have to take the magnetic container off the fridge and open the lid in order to actually access the pill organizer. But as Mitchell points out, this storage hack is more meant to be “a helpful reminder” about your meds and supplements than a newfangled way to effortlessly access your pills. 

Plus, having a secure place for your medication in the kitchen — specifically somewhere visible that doesn’t take up counter space — is pretty clever. You generally need a drink to help you swallow a pill, and some medications need to be taken with food and/or water. With this pill magnet, you’ll have everything you need in one place. However, if you live in a house with kids who shouldn’t have access to medication, this hack may be too in reach of children. You should always keep medications secure and out of reach of kids and pets.
