With spring cleaning and decluttering in full swing, you might be on the hunt for some creative yet ingenious solutions to get your home tidy. Luckily, self-professed “Dollar Tree enthusiast” and creator @MamaSavesMoney has found a hack that transforms a simple Dollar Tree organizer into two clever storage solutions. It’s a game-changer for clutter!

How to Use the Plastic Desktop Organizer Drawers to Create Instant Storage

In this video, she shows how she uses Dollar Tree’s Essentials Clear Plastic Desktop Organizer Drawers to create storage compartments on the inside of her cabinets and drawers with the help of some Command Strips. The $1.25 find measures 5x5x1.5 inches and is already a fan-favorite option to store everything from jewelry and makeup to craft and office supplies.

The creator removes the Dollar Tree organizer’s drawer insert, flips the organizer, open-side up, and attaches it with the Command Strips to any surface that makes sense — a bedside table or the side of a TV console, for example. She made a sleek remote holder for the inside of her bedside table, as well as an organizer for straws, noting that similar designs sell for about $10 each on Amazon

However, her discovery opens up a whole world of possibilities. This DIY design could also work as a hidden holder for eyeglasses and vitamins by your bedside table, a storage for makeup brushes in the inside of your bathroom vanity, or as a holder for electrolyte packets, chopsticks, and even silverware on the insides of your kitchen cabinets.

In the pantry, the open top of Dollar Tree’s clear drawer makes it perfect for storing packets of noodles on the inside of the doors. Meanwhile, it can organize your sinks and other scrubbing brushes underneath your kitchen sink. The options are truly endless.

An Alternative to The Dollar Tree Plastic Desktop Organizer Drawers

Unfortunately, Dollar Tree only sells this product in bulk online, meaning you have to buy 12 drawers — or $15 worth — of containers to order to your home if you can’t find the organizers at your local Dollar Tree or don’t live near one yourself, so you’ll have to really invest in the storage solution if you buy online. On the other hand, Amazon is selling a near-dupe, but it’s quite a bit more expensive (and larger) than the Dollar Tree version.

Currently on sale for $27.99, the three-pack stackable makeup organizer measures 12.1 inches in length, which might be a better option for your storage needs depending on what size you’re looking for.
