“We jumped at the chance for a two-floor apartment after seeing only a photo of the spiral staircase and a floor plan,” Rory explains of this 1,400-square-foot loft he’s shared with his partner, Jamison Karon, who’s a filmmaker and native plant authority, for two years. Betty, the dog star of the last tour, also calls this rental home.

“The first walkthrough wasn’t until after the lease was signed and we realized… we were about to move into an apartment with one small closet in the bedroom (problematique if you’ve see any of my other AT collaborations),” Rory admits of the open-plan loft. “Never fear,” he continues. “We were going to make this work.”

So how’d they make it work? They maximized efficiency by installing storage themselves, and spent “the time figuring out how each space is best utilized as well as how it can best be converted and used for something else,” Rory explains.
