Elijah Wood Is Selling Two Craftsman Bungalows and They’re Precious
It’s not a hobbit house but that’s about the only quality missing from this gorgeous residence Elijah Wood recently put on the market. “The Lord of the Rings” star is looking to find a new owner for his 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom Venice property, which is currently listed at $1,995,000.
Located at 1650 Electric Avenue, the 1,408-square-foot dwelling consists of two separate bungalows, each of which has its own bedroom, bathroom and full kitchen. The two cottages could either serve as a duplex or be combined to create a single-family residence. A privacy gate, gardens and a bamboo surround the property.
Built in 1921 and bearing the Craftsman design style, the first space features cork flooring that pairs well with the wooden beams in the living and dining areas. There are also plenty of windows that invite in natural light, which works well with the vaulted ceilings to create an airy, more spacious effect. Adding a bit of whimsy and fun to the overall decorative theme is a striking red craftsman door.
The galley-style kitchen features stone countertops and yellow wood cabinetry along with stainless steel appliances. Black wooden planks in the bedroom give the space a more modern feel. Accessible through the bedroom or the kitchen is a red-stained deck that grants a view of the second bungalow and offers a perfect spot to relax and take in the surrounding greenery.
This second cottage isn’t short on the presence of natural light either, thanks to various windows that help to illuminate the dining area and kitchen, which features painted wood floors, stainless steel appliances and an open breakfast bar. The second bedroom opens up to a patio.
Woods purchased the bungalows in 2004 for $1.2 million and has recently leased out the property. Douglas Elliman’s Juliette Hohnen holds the listing.
