This Quaint Eco Cabin is Essentially a Birdhouse For Humans
An architect firm has constructed a charming eco cabin treehouse that allows campers to immerse themselves in nature from above—like the birds. ERA Architects’ Pinea Eco Suite, made from natural materials and charged with solar energy, imitates the structure of a tree (and a bird house) and aims to blend into its natural environment in Barcelona, Spain. More delightfully so, there’s also a quaint little picnic area situated right under the Pinea cabin—which acts as shade from the sun or shelter from the rain during outdoor meal time.

The cabin only has enough room for one bed, making for a quaint camping experience. Inside, there are wall lamps on both sides of the bed that contain batteries that could also be used to charge mobile devices. These are charged via solar energy through small solar panels situated on the roof of the cabin. Outside, the cabin is constructed with a light brown wooden base and an olive green fabric cover that zips closed like a tent.
The Pinea cabin is accessible via metal pillar stairs that were designed to resemble forest tree trunks. Once campers reach the top, there are front pillars that lead into the actual tent that resemble pool ladders. Elsewhere, in the cozy picnic area under the cabin, the artificial green grass flooring allows campers to take off their shoes and feel truly at home.
ERA Architects also shared a video on their YouTube page that chronicles the construction process of the Pinea prototype back in 2019. Watch the video above. Ah, to be a camper nestled in a cozy treehouse in picturesque Spain, channeling one’s inner bird.
