I finally swapped out my winter and summer clothes last week. New York City has been experiencing warmer weather for a while now, but I put off making the switch because it’s such a hassle. It would’ve been more difficult, though, if I didn’t have the right storage containers. Before, I would just pile my clothes up to the ceiling on my closet’s shelf. Now, I cram them all in fabric totes, and I no longer have to worry about accidentally triggering an avalanche of clothing.

The bags, which turn into solid, stackable bins when completely full, also block out dust and make my closet look tremendously more organized. I still can’t believe it took me so long to buy them. If you don’t have a set of your own yet — or you just moved and have a new closet with a shelf — then you can follow the example of over 20,000 Amazon shoppers in the past month and grab the $18 Fab Totes Storage Bags.

What Are the Fab Totes Storage Bags?

Shoppers appreciate a number of things about this smart organizing set, including the spacious, 60-liter capacity of each bin. They hold more than you’d likely expect just by looking at them. Each bag measures about 22x14x12 inches, but they’re flexible enough to shove into tight spaces easily. Speaking for myself, the malleability comes in handy because my closet’s door frame and shelf are just about even with each other. I have to compress them as much as possible to fit through the small gap.

The handles on either side, which are made stronger with two additional layers of fabric, are equally impressive. You can use them to easily carry the bags to and from your closet. The clear windows are also convenient for easily spotting which bin to use when you need to switch things out. While your clothes — or linens, stuffed animals, or anything else — are inside, the zippered closure will keep out debris and moisture. The fabric is breathable enough to keep air circulating.

What Amazon Shoppers Are Saying

Average Rating: 4.3/5

“These are a game-changer for anyone looking for an alternative to bulky plastic bins, and unlike some of those, there’s no unpleasant plastic smell whatsoever! The capacity of these totes is truly impressive — I was surprised at how much I could fit into each one. What I love most is the clear window. It makes it so easy to see exactly what’s inside without having to rummage through everything. Plus, whether they are empty or full, they are incredibly easy to store and stack neatly, saving even more space.” —Christylynn Butts

“They are the perfect size for packing a bedding set (comforter, shams, bed skirt) or a set of towels. I was surprised that my movers (long distance, national company) felt that these were sturdy enough that they would load them in the truck as is without having to put them in boxes.” —BookGirl54

“These soft totes are great for when your moving cuz you can pack a lot in them. Plus there is a clear plastic window so you will know what is in your tote. I’ve purchased these at least 3-4 times so far and would totally recommend them to anyone. Once I get to my new place & unload them, I can fold them up & put them away in a drawer, which is very convenient. They are sturdy but flexible, and the zippers work.” —Lisa M

At its sale price, each of the six included bags costs about $3, which is a steal considering how useful they’ll be every time the seasons change. And if all six don’t fit in your closet, you can shove a couple under your bed. You can also do what I did last year and convert them into moving bags, cutting down on the number of boxes you’ll need. There’s pretty much no way they won’t prove useful!
