It’s that time of year again. The fall semester has just begun! As a recent grad, I’m all too familiar with the chaos that comes with the first few weeks of the school year. And, as someone who lived on campus for half of my college years, I know how overwhelming it can be trying to get your dorm room into shape at the same time. Stress aside, it’s also exciting — especially if it’s your first year. While you’re exploring a new environment, you’re also starting fresh with a new living space.

As great as it is, though I also know how expensive personalizing your dorm room can get — and you’ve likely already dropped a ton on tuition and books, so items that don’t break the bank are the way to go. So, I highly suggest checking out Five Below, the TikTok-favorite, budget-friendly store that sells everything from Stanley tumbler dupes to wavy pink mirrors for $5 and under. Well, mostly: there is a Beyond section. The retailer should be your first stop if you want affordable decor that’ll showcase your personality and be highly useful throughout the year, and we’ve rounded up 10 items from their Dorm Shop that are all under $25.

You can never have too many desk organizers, and this one has the perk of being exceptionally cute in addition to keeping your pens and pencils tidy and in one place — it’ll lessen the chance of you losing them, too.

Extra seating is always a must when you invite friends over, and in dorm rooms, you’re usually just limited to your desk chair and bed. With this inflatable chair, you can blow it up when you need it and deflate and store it away when you don’t.

Maximizing your surface area is key. Your desk is likely the only tabletop you’ll have in your room, so this clear riser will not only keep you from being hunched over your laptop, but allow you to store notebooks and things underneath it, too.

An abundance of pillows will help you forget how painfully stiff your standard dorm mattress is, and this super soft body pillow will make your bed way more cozy. (Pro tip: I also loved having a body pillow up against the wall my bed was on, so nothing could fall down underneath.)

Sorry to break it to you, but odds are your closet or dresser (or both if you’re lucky) will be way smaller than you’re used to. And naturally, you’ll buy more clothes while you’re there, so you’ll definitely need to maximize your storage space. These under-the-bed bins are the perfect solution.

Like you can’t have too many pillows, you also can’t have too many blankets — even better if they’re fluffy and warm like this one. Speaking for myself, in the winter, my dorm room never got as warm as I wanted it, so layering up blankets on my bed was my go-to.

I recommend getting one of these for your room and the bathroom. In your room, coats, and backpacks are easy to reach and out of the way, and in the bathroom, your towels can air out. (Plus, the flowers are adorable and way more interesting than your standard hooks.)

I was bringing food up from the dining hall constantly during my first year, but I’d always have to throw it out before long because the to-go box wouldn’t fit in my mini fridge. I wish I’d had this 42-piece food storage set — even when you aren’t using them, the pieces nest into each other to take up less space.

If you want your dorm room to look less, well, like a dorm room, adding a headboard will totally transform the space. This pillow version will give you a soft surface to lean against at the same time, and it'll stay propped up securely with the included adhesive hooks.

You can never have too much storage. Whether it’s your makeshift pantry, stores your bathroom and cleaning supplies, or is just a place where you can throw all the miscellaneous items you’ll undoubtedly accumulate, these bins will be your most-used dorm item (and they look just like the popular Urban Outfitters ones).
