This Waco Bungalow from ‘Fixer Upper’ Is for Sale
It’s not every day that a property featured on “Fixer Upper” hits the market. But over the years, a few homes overhauled by Chip and Joanna Gaines on their classic HGTV series have gone up for sale. After all, who doesn’t remember the “Little Shack on the Prairie,” or the dilapidated farmhouse from season 1? This time, it’s the Baker House, a cozy cottage priced now at $359,500.
The three-bed, two-and-a-half bath Baker House is a comfortable 1950s bungalow in a welcoming neighborhood of Waco. On the show, the property was purchased by Patti Baker, a widow who wanted to live in the neighborhood to be closer to her family. She told Chip and Jo she wanted a home office, a comfortable master suite, and to move the laundry room from the garage to the inside of the home. They took Patti’s goals into account, and created her stunning dream home. Now, some other lucky home buyer can snag it.
Climb the front steps to the porch, perfect for sitting back with your morning coffee, then step inside the bright 1,432-square-foot home. Filled with natural light streaming in from the windows, it features a spacious open kitchen with custom concrete countertops, a farmhouse sink, custom cabinetry and a cement tile backspace. There’s also a dining area with built-in seating the whole family can gather for meals. A unique feature of the Baker House is its two living areas, made possible by the two-sided open shelving. It creates both a den and a hobby room, with multiple spaces for a busy family to recharge.
A spacious master bedroom is filled with sunlight, and features plenty of closet space, as well as a recent-revamped master bath. The spare bedroom can also serve as a home office, filled with windows looking out onto the peaceful neighborhood. Step outside to the backyard, where there’s space for a patio, as well as a fenced-in yard surrounded by mature trees that’s ideal for children. With plenty of curb appeal, the Baker House has a flat, grassy front lawn that’s the perfect spot to sit back and enjoy the natural Texas beauty.
The Baker House first hit the market back in 2018, right after it was featured on the HGTV series. It seems that Patti reconnected with an old family friend, Pastor Joe Finfrock, just a couple months after her episode aired. According to People, she was giving Joe a tour of her new home, and he asked her to marry him. Despite having said goodbye the home, Patti told People she’s still holding on to some of the decor and furniture pieces selected by Joanna.
