The Little Shack on the Prairie from ‘Fixer Upper’ Could Be Yours
Out of Chip and Joanna Gaines’s massive home overhauls, the “Little Shack on the Prairie” certainly takes the cake for a memorable makeover. The Matsumoto family got the grand “Fixer Upper” treatment in season 4 of the show, transforming an actual wooden shack into a sprawling renovated farmhouse with an industrial flair. And now, the four-bed, two-bath home is on the market for $400,000, realtor.com reports.
Measuring 1,700 square feet, the stunning farmhouse, which was built in 2017, is located on a one-acre lot in Crawford, TX. Climb the front steps to the spacious porch, perfect for sitting back and enjoying your morning coffee. Inside, an open-concept floor plan, where oversized windows stream in light from the Texas countryside. Bamboo floors run through hotel house, and in traditional “Fixer Upper” style, you’ll find plenty of shiplap.
A combined kitchen/living space has top-of-the-line appliances, concrete counter tops with a waterfall island that has plenty of seating, suspended industrial shelves, and plenty of built-ins. The master bedroom features a raw wood ceiling, with wood salvaged from the original house’s structure. Beautiful barn doors open to the master bath, complete with his/her sinks and a claw foot tub.
A spacious back patio is the perfect gathering space to embrace the outdoor setting. Two sets of French doors lead outside to the flat, grassy backyard where you’ll find raised garden beds, a large playset, and lush landscaping. There are two sheds, including one that has hardwood floors and A.C, ideal for a quiet office or art studio. There’s also a shipping container and a half-basketball court, perfect for kids, or adults who want to blow off some steam.
“This adorable farmhouse from season 4 of ‘Fixer Upper’ is one of their most memorable projects ever. They took a falling-down shack and reimagined it as a family farmhouse,” says Erik Gunther, realtor.com celebrity real estate expert. “The owners had it on the market as an Airbnb for over $300 a night, so perhaps the buyer will be an investor who sees the huge value in the Gaines name.”
The property is the third Fixer Upper alum to hit the market this year. The “Asian Ranch” hit the market at $739,000 several months ago, but according to its listing, the price has been cut down to $699,000. The Brick House, which came on the market a few weeks later, sold in less than a month, according to realtor.com.
