This TikToker Used Thrift Store Frames to Organize an Unexpected Spot
Your refrigerator may not be the first thing you gravitate toward when you’re thinking of giving your kitchen a mini makeover. But after you see what one TikToker did with her fridge to improve her kitchen space, then you’ll also want to make your refrigerator the star of your home.
“Making my fridge into a gallery wall using thrift store frames,” TikTok user Marissa Zingg (@onecrafdiygirl) said in a January video. “I don’t show my kitchen on here because I’m a renter and it is atrocious in my opinion, but I figured this was a cute way to display our save-the-dates and notes from family and loved ones by making it look a little more elevated.”
Marissa bought a small collection of frames from the thrift store and E-6000 glue to adhere small magnets to the backs. For some, she kept the glass and backing inside to properly frame pieces of memorabilia, and for others, she removed the glass and backing to create a frame in which the bits and bobs inside can be easily accessed and rearranged.
This is a great way to disguise an ugly, outdated fridge you can’t replace, and it’s also a fun way to add an unexpected element to your kitchen without breaking the bank. And although Marissa used large frames to highlight her fridge collection (and honestly, hide her fridge!), using small frames could also be a fun way to keep business cards, wallet-sized pictures, and other smaller items more organized.
“This is so genius omg,” one commenter wrote. Another added a suggestion, “Hear me out…gold handles.” And if you’re not a renter, then that one will definitely add some extra pizazz alongside some ornate gold frames!
It’s a little bit cottagecore, and overall a fun and easy DIY that makes a big impact.
