You Can Now Watch TikTok During Your American Airlines Flight
If the thought of being without access to TikTok as you’re 35,000 feet in the air is enough to make you feel panicky, you can rest easy. American Airlines just announced a partnership with the viral video app, offering 30 free minutes of scroll time to passengers traveling on select flights without charging a fee for WiFi access, which feels like the perfect way to combat mid-air boredom and keep up with your favorite feeds.
Available now on all American routes on narrowbody planes equipped with Viasat WiFi (i.e. most standard Airbus and Boeing jets), it works even if your device is in airplane mode, where you’ll be able to connect to the TikTok app or download it if you’re a new user.
“Faster Wi-Fi allows us to deliver diverse inflight entertainment options and invest in innovative partnerships with platforms like TikTok,” said Clarissa Sebastian, American’s Managing Director of Premium Customer Experience and Onboard Products, in a press release announcing the partnership. “Customers play the lead role in helping us better understand what content they want during their inflight experience and TikTok is one of the platforms they love on the ground, and we’re thrilled to work with Viasat to give customers free access to TikTok while they’re in the air as well.”
American Airlines has recently stepped up its in-flight entertainment options, giving passengers an expansive collection of more than 150 free creative, productivity, and language classes, which means you can brush up on your Italian, German, Japanese, and Mandarin through Rosetta Stone all before you reach your final destination, or you can enjoy a slew of digital classes about writing, illustration, design, photography, and creativity through Skillshare. Of course, if you just want to mindlessly scroll through TikTok for a bit, that’s totally cool, too.
