Wood doors in white entryway

Now that it’s officially winter, it’s time to hunker down and really lean into cozy vibes until we see the sun again in spring. If you want your space to be inviting as soon as you walk through the front door, it’s time to install curtains in your front entryway. Why? This super-simple upgrade will make your home feel that much warmer and welcoming, and give your space a lot more charm and personality.

“Last Christmas …The front door makeover is still holding up a year later!” Elisa (@ourNHhome) wrote in a recent Instagram caption. “It was such an easy project, and I love how it looks from every view.”

A Curtain Makes an Entryway So Cozy

After painting her front door a beautiful gray-green color (Sherwin-Williams’ Cast Iron) and adding a decorative pediment above it for a historical touch, Elisa hung a set of toile-printed curtains on either side of the door. Not only does this slightly soften the light from windows, but it also adds softness and dimension to the space that once felt sparse and cold.

Elisa used this set of toile curtains from Wayfair, which retails for just over $145. The red and green colors in the print are awesome for the holiday season but will carry through the rest of the winter, too.

However, I found a set of curtains from Amazon that gives a similar effect and is over $100 less than Wayfair’s take on the look. These curtains are made of cotton and come in four classic colors, including this warm, rich red. You can choose from seven sizes and instantly give your front entryway an antique-inspired French country look.

And before you check out, add this brass-toned curtain rod to your cart. It can be adjusted up to 84 inches long and comes with all the necessary hardware to install it.

Not only does adding a curtain to your front door make your space look cozier, but you can also use it to keep your house warmer. When pulled close, curtains will block drafts and add an extra layer of insulation on chilly winter days.

A front door curtain can take your entryway from boring to personality-packed. Give it a try this winter, and you might find yourself having the coziest season ever!
