There is no doubt that Garance Doré is a woman of many trades. She is a skilled photographer and illustrator, which can be seen through her highly visual Instagram and blog Atelier Doré. Doré uses her platform to discuss everything from photographer street style to updates on her ongoing L.A. home renovation.

Doré is the author of The New York Times bestseller “Love Style Life,” filled with tales and illustrations of Doré’s own life. She also partners with brands on various projects from time to time, like the 2019 Colors of the Year unveil for both HGTV Home by Sherwin Williams and Valspar.

To put it simply, Doré is as busy as can be. But on occasion, she does get to put her feet up to unwind with some good TV shows and dark chocolate, among other things.

Read on to get an inside look on how the fashion expert spends her downtime.

Set The Scene

Your perfect homebody scene in 5 words: Chris (fiancé), Lulu (dog), Leo (dog), TV, coziness, food—so that’s six things.

Are you alone or with someone else? With my family.

Night-in uniform: When my fiancé Chris leaves town, I go to my dressing room and put on my softest, oldest sweatpants in the world. When he’s here, I try to mix and match, like cute shorts or a sweater or something like that.

What two people, dead or alive, would you let crash your night? Barack Obama. His wife is great and so strong, so she might overpower the night. He can just come and chill on the couch. Barack is funny, but we need someone even funnier. I think Chris Rock.

Favorite cozy product: I love to have herbal teas. I have a giant collection of them.

Now playing

TV or a movie? TV shows.

What are you watching? “Ozark,” it’s on Netflix. All the ones you’re watching probably. “Game of Thrones,” the big epic ones or Sci-Fi.

eBooks or the real deal? E-books for me, but I’m thinking about trying to change that.

Currently reading? I’m going to try to read “Educated” next, it’s an autobiography.

Board games, yay or nay? I don’t like board games. I’m annoying for that because my boyfriend’s family loves them. I can do jokes, conversations, but not board games.

What’s cooking

Order in or cook for yourself? Cook.

What are you eating? I don’t cook, but the boyfriend does. He’s just so good. He makes me chicken soup, lasagna… he can make anything. And he’s from the South, so he’ll make brisket. I am lucky.

What drink are you pouring? We don’t drink at home, but sometimes I’ll pour a glass of wine for myself. I love drinking but not so much at home.

What’s for dessert? We don’t really have dessert, but I always have dark chocolate, so that would be my thing.

Late night snack? If I’m hungry, I feel like the best thing for me to do is oatmeal.

Take care

Do you have a self-care ritual? I have a sleep mask, ear plugs, floss—there is a whole routine that I do. Apart from that, nothing crazy. Sometimes I add different stuff, like the thing that makes your brows grow thicker. I’ve tried it and it works amazingly, so I need to redo.

What do you try to avoid at all costs? Phones. Out of the room.

Candles, yay or nay? No.

Face masks, yay or nay? Nay, I don’t really care for face masks.

Bubble bath, yay or nay? Totally! Not bubbles, but serious wellness oils and activation.

Chores, yay or nay? At night, I don’t do them. Sometimes I think I could but after 7 p.m., I do not.

Ideal bedtime? I go to bed at 9:30 p.m. and I fall asleep at 10 p.m.

Thanks for sharing, Garance!
