After four years of living in our current duplex apartment, my wife Kristie and I finally got our living room decor right for us. It’s a mixture of vintage finds (like using an old magazine rack to store yarn for ongoing knitting projects) and newer bargains (thanks Craigslist!).

Our living room is the first thing you see when you enter our home, and because of that, it was tough to make storage options both easy and stylish.

We finally nailed it with an old IKEA coffee table complete with cubbies; a cedar chest (for $20 from Craigslist) to hide all our shoes from our dog Samson; and a vintage mail sorter for bills.

It’s now our command center. We work here, eat here (probably more often than I’d really like to admit), relax here, pay bills here, socialize here, craft/knit/sew here, and nap here. I think it’s my favorite room in the house…dog-friendly, functional, somewhat stylish, but very “us.”

Thanks, Hannah!
