“HomeGoods said now is your time for a stool!” TikTok user @littlemissworry wrote in a recent TikTok caption. Her video is a walkthrough of her local HomeGoods, where the iconic stools are marked down to shockingly low prices. For example, the classic orange and strawberry seats are just $20, and other less-viral shapes like the grapes, dragonfruit, and tomato slices have been slashed to $15.
Are Fruit Stools Going Away?
Some people believe that the fruit stool clearance may be a harbinger of the death of the trend — but don’t be too alarmed just yet. With the continuation of fruit-shaped lamps and tinned fish-inspired table settings, it doesn’t seem food decor popularity is on the decline overall.
And that’s great news for collectors like TikToker Kaarin Joy. She’s been hunting fruit stools since their debut and, although her collection is already massive, she’s still finding new shapes she doesn’t yet have.
