This New Boho Storage Unit Looks So High-End, You’d Never Guess It’s from IKEA

Rattan may be synonymous with ’70s-era vintage furniture, but it’s been having a renaissance the past few years, too — and it’s easy to see why. This material adds a natural, textural touch to a space, which can be applied to anything from bed frames and coffee tables to lighting. Coastal-inspired and boho brands like Serena & Lily and Urban Outfitters, respectively, often specialize in these stylish woven pieces, but IKEA has also recently thrown its proverbial hat into the rattan ring. 

Specifically, the Swedish brand’s new FRYKSÅS collection features eight rattan furniture pieces, including this versatile storage unit. The handwoven FRYKSÅS cart comes with a curved rattan silhouette, plus two built-in wood shelves and a lower compartment-like shelf.

The beauty of this IKEA new arrival is that it’s also on wheels, so it’s easy to transport or restyle, depending on your needs. New mini bar cart? You got it. Extra space for kitchen supplies? It works well for that, too. You can even convert it into a side table or nightstand with the top shelf functioning as a tabletop and then stack books or small bins at the bottom. 

Just know that, according to reviewers, the FRYKSÅS storage unit on casters runs slightly smaller than it looks online — it’s only 20 7/8 inches tall by 8 1/8 inches deep and 14 5/8 inches wide. Thanks to its handmade construction, this piece is also priced a little more on the expensive side at $129.99, but it’s actually cheaper than most similar rattan storage towers, bar carts, or end tables. 

Ultimately, this is the perfect (stylish!) compact storage piece, however you decide to use it. The FRYKSÅS unit looks incredibly high-end — so much so that you’d never guess it came from IKEA — especially compared to most generic three-tiered carts or shelving units. It’s neutral enough to style anywhere as well, even in twos or threes. You can flank either side of your bed with these as matching nightstands, or invest in FRYKSÅS for multiple rooms throughout your home.
