This Boho-Inspired IKEA Storage Staple Every Living Room Needs (It’s So Versatile!)

IKEA’s furniture launches have always been noteworthy (there’s a reason its iconic catalogs were such page-turners). But the retailer’s recent drops feel particularly covetable — from the colorful 80th anniversary series to the new home office line. One product range that definitely needs to be on your radar right now, though, is the FRYKSÅS collection, complete with its 10 rattan pieces designed to be mixed and matched. 

These offerings include the versatile FRYKSÅS TV unit, a living room MVP that doubles as a media console and storage piece. You get the best of both worlds with two open shelves in the middle — perfect for styling your favorite coffee table books or stacking a CD collection — plus, cabinets on either side designed to conceal cable boxes, blankets, etc. The piece also has small openings in the back to discreetly hide any cords.

The TV stand measures 61.75 inches wide by 16 ⅛ inches deep by 19 ⅛ inches tall, so it runs slightly long. However, it still skews fairly compact and low-profile overall. And whether you’re mounting your TV on the wall above or setting it directly on top of the FRYKSÅS unit, four sets of adjustable feet keep the whole piece sturdily in place (whether you have even or uneven floors).

You can’t go wrong with the style of this furniture design, too — the woven rattan adds a natural, textural touch to your living room. The light wood finish would also pair well with just about any decor style. Even if you’re a fan of more colorful statement pieces, you can easily style the tabletop with a bold table lamp, decorative vase, or bright book spines (or all of the above). 

At $349.99, the FRYKSÅS TV unit is a little bit expensive, especially by IKEA standards. But it’s fairly comparable to similar rattan media consoles, and I’d argue that this honestly looks more high-end and minimalist than most. I also love the idea of styling this as a mudroom or entryway organizer, if you have the space. No matter how you use it, you’re guaranteed convenient storage and a sleek, modern new piece.
