Hammocks Equal Summer, and IKEA Just Launched Some New Ones
Spending lots of time indoors is de rigueur these days, but that doesn’t mean summer is cancelled. You might not be heading to the beach, but some of the beach can come to you, courtesy of IKEA. The Swedish retailer just released some new summer items, several of which are staycation-ready hammocks.
SOLBLEKT—which means sun-bleached in Swedish—is a hammock made of cabana-inspired striped recycled polyester, available in orange or green for $39.99. If solids are more your style, there’s RISÖ ($25), which is also made in both orange and green, and comes with a handy pocket for reading material and other small items.
The hammock itself comes with the included hooks, taking away the hassle of having to tie knots for setup between two trees. But if you don’t have suitable trees or want to use it inside, the GÅRÖ stand ($70) solves that problem. The stand also has a wheel so that it’s easy to move.
“The hammock gently rocks you into a state of harmony and relaxation,” the product description reads. “Whether mounted between two trees or using GÅRÖ hammock stand you can hang loose until it’s time for your next chore.”
IKEA recommends it for outdoor use, but if you live in an apartment, an open corner would perhaps do (just don’t use it as a swing, to be extra safe). It’s totally a look; get inspired by these living rooms where hammocks bring vacation vibes all year long. And if you want to treat your pet, there’s one Etsy seller that makes hammocks for your cat.
