My home has a strict “no outside shoes” rule, so I’ve been on the hunt for an open-shelf unit to organize my footwear and other knickknacks at the entryway. Additionally, as my entryway is quite narrow, I need a compact, wall-mounted unit. Fortunately for me, IKEA has just what I need: the LACK wall shelf. And it’s now available in a brand-new, exciting colorway.

What Is the IKEA LACK Wall Shelf?

This small-space-friendly wall unit is a complete game-changer. Measuring 11 3/4 inches wide, 11 inches deep, and 74 3/4 inches tall, this entryway organizer is the ideal size for my narrow entrance. I love that the shelves are open and sturdy. With a max load of 7 pounds per shelf, the unit can hold a lot of things without taking up much space in my apartment. So while I want to use it for shoes, it could also make sense for books, trinkets, candles, or any other things I might need organized.

It’s priced at $99.99 and available in three colors: white, black-brown, and black-blue, which is the newest option (and the one I have my eyes on).

Why I Love This Entryway Organizer

Because the organizer is so affordable, I plan on purchasing two of these units and mounting them vertically in my entryway. They’re exactly what I’ve been looking for to organize my outside shoes, hats, scarves, and other knickknacks.

But what I love about this organizer is its versatility — I can imagine a world where a third one would fit perfectly in my bedroom to organize my hair and makeup accessories. It’s so great that it’s completely open, so I don’t have to open all my dresser drawers and cabinets when I’m looking for something specific.
