IKEA’s New Solid Wood Outdoor Sofa Works for Literally Any Size Patio

Picture it: Warm summer nights spent outdoors, with twinkling lights shining above. The right patio furniture can transform a space — no matter if the layout is awkward, small, narrow, or hard to arrange. IKEA’s NÄMMARÖ modular loveseat is perfect for balconies and backyards big and small because the customizable setup can be configured in more than one arrangement to meet your needs. 

For example, when Mia Schumacher signed the lease for her 400-square-foot studio apartment in Winter Park, Florida, the standout feature was actually outside the home. “The biggest stunner of my studio is the balcony,” she explains. “It was large enough to have a full table and chairs and a separate seating area. I spent so much time out there, it was my sanctuary.”

Part of the reason it was a sanctuary is likely because of Mia’s inclusion of the NÄMMARÖ modular loveseat. Instead of configuring it to resemble a traditional loveseat, she separated the two sides into chairs. They sit at an angle in front of what appears to be a matching table. 

The loveseat is a bit higher in price for IKEA ($600), but it’s an investment you can keep for a long time. The brand boasts that it’s made from acacia that’s been pre-treated with multiple layers of wood stain. The cushions are water-repellent, and the Swedish brand recommends simply shaking them off if they get wet. The seat comes with white cushions, but you can swap them out for something more colorful if you prefer. 

As of right now, the loveseat has only one review on IKEA’s website, but, unsurprisingly, it received five stars. “The cushions are essential as it is very deep — something to snuggle into. A bit wider than I expected and easily sits two with a pup in between 😉 The pillow covers are a nice quality. The frame fits together well. A good design. Glad we choose it,” Janice, an IKEA shopper wrote online.
