When you think of a recliner, a vision of a beat-up chair that’s been beloved for snoozing on since the last century might come to mind. But IKEA just introduced a new collection of recliners to its living room furniture collection that’s going to change the way you think about these chairs forever.

They’re actually so stylish that you may just become a recliner convert. Could it be that these retro eyesores finally got the upgrade that they deserve?

IKEA’s New Recliners Are as Stylish as They Are Comfortable

IKEA introduced shoppers to three new recliner families — GRYTERYD, SKULNÄS, and ARNÄSVALL — with the GRYTERYD recliners starting at just under $400. Each style is available in two colors, and the SKULNÄS and ARNÄSVALL chairs swivel and rock when they are not in recline mode.

Every new chair features easy manual adjustment, so all you have to do is pull a lever to recline. The backrest moves forward and back as you shift your body weight, and the plush support at the head and lower back areas provides ultimate comfort when you kick back and relax.

Each chair is upholstered in a thick, textured fabric that makes it look and feel luxe. And because there’s no pattern or visible weave, these chairs don’t look dated in any sense of the word. They’ll match perfectly with your existing living room furniture or other IKEA sectionals, sofas, and armchairs.

Recliners have gotten a serious facelift since your family bought one a million years ago. And these new recliners from IKEA are definitely luring all of us over to the comfy side.

Wayfair sells a similar recliner to the IKEA GRYTERYD. It’s designed by Eben Designs and comes in a few colors, including a handful of neutral grays and tans. It also features an easy-to-use manual lever, a side pocket for your books or remotes, and a premium chenille fabric that is breathable and soft on your skin.
