If your household is anything like mine, you have a bounty of digital devices without a designated home: phones, tablets, and accessories galore, all of which require routine charging. I decided it was time to finally create a consolidated, organized space to keep track of everything.

Priced at just $5.99, the IKEA OSTBIT Bamboo Plate Holder is sold as an organizer to store and protect plates within drawers or cabinets or to be displayed on a shelf. But this handy little dish rack, which measures 11 inches long and 5 inches wide, has a multitude of uses, from storing food container lids to storing books on a wall.

Knowing how versatile it is, I knew it would work great as a digital drop zone for keyboards, phones, laptops, tablets, handheld gaming consoles, and more. The slots are large enough for even chunky computers and tablets with covers, and it holds exactly six devices. Without any alterations, it instantly became a device station for gadgets of all sizes in my bedroom, but this trick would also work in a kitchen, entryway, living room, or home office.

Why the IKEA OSTBIT Plate Holder Makes the Perfect Tech Organizer

I keep the drop station next to an outlet and ensure all the charging ports face the same way when placing the devices in the slots. This makes swapping the charger from one device to the next super easy, or you can have several going at once. It’s super convenient to keep everything together, and the upright storage makes it easy to access each device while taking up very little space.

I thought the rack might not be sturdy enough to hold everything, but the pegs are thick and strong. I even tested it with just one large, heavy device in the very last row and it didn’t topple or wobble one bit. It does help to place the devices at a slant with the longest side against the bottom. My favorite part of this discovery? It’s cheaper than pretty much every other digital organizer on the market. I might have to go pick up one more of these iconic IKEA organizers just to see what else it can do!
