This IKEA Has a Secret Infinity Room
IKEA stores are huge, having on average 300,000 square feet of retail space, or about the size of five football fields. But that’s nothing compared to one room in an IKEA location, which customers say, stretches into infinity.
Over on TikTok, people are abuzz after seeing a video of a secret room at an IKEA in Greenwich, London, containing what resembles Yayoi Kusama’s iconic installation, Infinity Mirror Rooms.
The following clip shows two customers following a series of signs until they reach a plain-looking door labeled “Infinity” in neon letters. What was waiting inside was unexpected: a room bathed in purple, lanterns scattered about, and mirrors on all sides, creating the illusion of a boundless space.
Other customers who saw the clip were quick to try and find the room, though many failed. One commenter said, “went to the Greenwich IKEA soooo many times and never saw this,” to which the video’s uploader, Anjali, wrote, “Look harder.”
According to Pinterest, it’s somewhere “downstairs after the plants section,” while those who have spotted it say it’s where the mirrors are located.
It’s also not clear if the installation is available in more IKEA locations or just for that particular one in Greenwich. But with tickets to Yayoi Kusama’s actual installation often sold out, one can hope that IKEA makes this a thing everywhere.
