IKEA Is Selling a $40 Striped Duvet Set That Design Editors Are “Obsessed” With
Nothing screams summer quite like seersucker. It’s likely the lightweight cotton fabric that your favorite warm-weather dress or shirt is made from. Now, your favorite summer bedding can also be made from seersucker. IKEA just rolled out a new duvet and pillowcase set that’s made of classic striped seersucker, and it’s giving Piglet in Bed and Brooklinen but at a fraction of the price. The entire set only costs $40.
What Is the IKEA SMÅNUNNEÖRT bedding?
The IKEA SMÅNUNNEÖRT duvet and pillowcase set comes in either a blue-gray and white or red-brown and white stripe, each with a vintage, lived-in feel. What makes IKEA’s seersucker a bit special is that it’s made with a cotton-viscose blend, which makes the fabric feel a bit more silky and soft than 100% cotton fabric. The cotton fibers wick away moisture, while the viscose, which is made from wood pulp, gives the bedding a subtle sheen.
The duvet cover features buttons for easy closure, and the pillowcases have a classic envelope fold to keep everything in place. And, although new, the set is already racking up five-star reviews, with so many people writing that it’s the perfect duvet set for summer.
“This duvet is extremely soft,” one IKEA shopper wrote. “The simple pattern is classic and the button closure is well made. I am going to buy another for my son.” Someone else wrote in their review, “Very flowy, light and cozy. Doesn’t get as warm as regular covers. The perfect duvet cover for the warmer months!”
And someone else added, “Love this duvet cover it’s super soft and lightweight, perfect for the summertime!”
This set looks strikingly similar to the Cooling Cotton Percale Duvet Cover from Brooklinen, which is on sale for just under $130 for July 4. This duvet cover is also crisp and cooling but lacks that seersucker texture the IKEA version has. Also, the Brooklinen duvet doesn’t come with pillowcases (those can be purchased separately).
Pick up the SMÅNUNNEÖRT in either colorway to treat yourself to a better night’s sleep. These seersucker pieces not only look great, but they also keep you cool even on the hottest nights of the year.
