When you’re staging your home for a sale, you’re probably looking to zhuzh up the space for as cheap as possible. That’s where retailers like IKEA, which are known for being beyond affordable, can step in. Whether you’re looking for real pieces of furniture or light decor touches, IKEA will have what you need. I asked Joy Waida, a Baltimore-based stager and owner of Joy Home Design, to share exactly what she’d buy from IKEA right now — and she picked these six fresh and distinct pieces.

FEJKA Artificial Potted Plant
$100

“We love adding some organic height to a room to bring movement and freshness in, like this potted palm that is almost 6’ tall,” Waida says. Conveniently, this plant is made from recycled plastic, so you won’t need to worry about putting it by a window, watering it, or dealing with any messy soil in-between showings. You can even put it on your front porch or backyard next to some real plants for an extra dose of green if you’re staging an outdoor space.

Delicate plants like herbs can be difficult to keep alive year-round — especially if you don’t have a lot of natural light in your home. Artificial versions of these plants are an easy, affordable way to add some greenery to your space — especially when you’re looking to create a pleasing ambiance for a party or open house. “We always include some potted herbs in kitchens as well, like this mint which makes us want to make mojitos on a hot summer day,” notes Waida.

JUBLA Unscented Chandelier Candle, 20-Pack
$10

It might not always be practical to have decorations on every surface all the time. But if you’re looking to go the extra mile when people are viewing your house, it doesn’t hurt to clear away that clutter and replace it with something a bit more aspirational, like these candlesticks that go perfectly with a minimal candlestick holder set. Plus, you get 20 candles, so you can burn them for a party and replace them with new ones when your next open house comes around.

FULLTALIG Candlestick, Set of 3
$20

“We like to use a lot of the same thing as centerpieces or on mantels like these candlesticks with candleholders. Group them together in the middle of your table for easy elegance and drama,” Waida says.

SOCKERÄRT Vase/Jug
$20

“This simple white ceramic pitcher with a bunch of eucalyptus branches always does the trick to brighten that empty corner or table,” Waida says. If you already have enough greenery around, this vase can be used in all sorts of other ways — for serving drinks, watering plants, displaying a bouquet of flowers, the list goes on.

Alternatively, if you already have plenty of vases and vessels but don’t always know what to do with them, keeping some faux eucalyptus branches around could come in handy.
