IKEA Is Selling the Most Useful Kitchen Organizer for a Steal

Cabinets and cupboards provide plenty of storage space, but unfortunately not every cabinet you encounter is the best size or shape. Excessively large ones tend to get cluttered easily, and taller cabinets without built-in shelves can feel like an unfortunate waste of space. There are several ways to organize cabinet space to make it more efficient, but this new organizer from IKEA is designed specifically to go under your sink and transform that cluttered spot of cleaning supplies and trash bags into an organized haven.

A new addition to IKEA’s inventory, the UTRUSTA under-sink organizer is a two-tier shelf made from dark gray steel. It measures 17 inches tall, 11.5 inches deep, and 13.75 inches wide. It has two tiers of basket-style shelves: one more narrow and slim on the top, and a larger, wider one down below. It can hold a maximum of 22 pounds between both shelves. Plus, IKEA’s site says “the upper tray adjusts to three different heights,” which allows you to store different-sized items on the lower shelf.

The most unique part of this organizer is that it doesn’t just take advantage of unused cabinet space — it’s also mounted on sliders. Unlike a drawer, which pulls in and out, this IKEA organizer slides side-to-side (say that five times fast). This means that even if you have to mount it in a dark far-off corner that’s hard to reach and easy to forget about, it’ll be easy to slide all that stuff right over to you. 

There are a lot of reasons to like this under-sink organizer. Every kitchen looks different, but most kitchens do indeed have storage space under the sink. And if my personal under-sink cabinet is any indication, it can often turn into a bit of a mess. Just the other day I was reaching over multiple cleaning products to try and unearth an old, dried-out container of disinfecting wipes. I might not have even forgotten about them at all if I had sliding shelves.

Although it’s technically intended for the space under your kitchen sink, you could use this two-tier sliding organizer in any cabinet in your home, as long as it fits and can be safely mounted to that surface. Technically, you don’t even need to put it in a cabinet — it could even go on a wall, if that’s what you prefer, but it might require a bit more work to mount.
