Push the two engineered wood pieces together, and it’s a traditional-looking shelf with backboards that measures 31.5 inches across. Pull the two pieces apart, and you have a bookshelf that’s nearly 6 feet long, with a mix of backpaneled and open shelves. And if you place the two pieces at a 90-degree angle, you can neatly tuck it into the corner of a room or hallway. In my opinion, it looks most design-forward this way.
No matter which configuration you choose, the low bookshelf stands just under 36 inches high, allowing it to live under most windows and doors. For added visual interest, it has a trapezoidal design, with its tiers getting wider as you move from top to bottom. This helps with stability, too.
