This Colorful Striped Bedding Makes Plain White Sheets Look So Boring
The bedroom walls in my rental apartment are coated in “landlord special” off-white paint. I haven’t done anything about it yet, which means that, aside from my decor, my bed is the primary source of color in the space. Thankfully we’ve come a long way from plain white bed sheets; more brands have come on the scene with stylish color- and pattern-drenched bedding that adds instant personality to bland bedrooms. Hommey is one of those brands.
Even if you don’t know Hommey by name, you’ll probably recognize its products. The Aussie lifestyle brand’s bold, Scandi-cool bed and bath linens come across my social feeds almost daily. So I had to know the answer to the following question: What is Hommey all about? I investigated to learn more.
What Does Hommey Specialize In?
Hommey is arguably most popular for its design-forward bedding and robes, but they also make bath towels, bath mats, loungewear, and even kitchen towels and throw blankets. They’re clearly dedicated to making every corner of your home as stylish as your bedroom.
Everything comes in a cool curation of colors that elevate any room. And if you love stripes as much as I do, Hommey has a solid selection, including (but not limited to) its best-selling reversible duvet covers, pinstriped bath towels, and chunky striped duvet covers. Suffice it to say that there’s something for everyone, whether you prefer punchy patterns or earthy neutrals.
When it comes to price point, I’d place Hommey somewhere between mid- and high-end. A queen-size cotton duvet cover is around $169 at regular price (although they’re actually 30% off right now), and the brand’s 100% linen duvet cover starts at $269 for a twin size. A two-pack of bath towels will run you $99, which is on the pricier side for towels but not totally unreasonable. You’re definitely paying a premium for the elevated look and feel.
What Is Hommey Bedding Made Of?
Hommey offers bedding in organic cotton and European flax linen. The organic cotton bedding boasts a smooth, sateen weave and is stonewashed for supreme softness straight out of the bag. The flax linen options are ultra-lightweight and breathable at 155 GSM (grams per square meter), which makes them a great choice for warm sleepers.
The brand also offers silk pillowcases and eye masks, which are made of 100% mulberry silk for that luxurious feeling you want.
Does Hommey Have Any Certifications?
Yes! All Hommey bedding is OEKO-Tex Standard 100 certified, which ensures human and ecological safety during the manufacturing process.
Can You Put Hommey Products in the Dryer?
Hommey doesn’t suggest tumble-drying its bedding. If line- or hang-drying is not an option (especially if you live in a small apartment), then tumble-drying it at a low heat is the safest bet. Personally, I’ve tumble-dried my organic cotton duvet and it’s held up wonderfully!
