As this year comes to a close and the next one looms, there’s nothing like starting things off with a clean slate. What better way to do so than by giving your home the reset it deserves to make 2024 your best year yet? The good news is that we have a plan for you to get it done, with our help.

Join Apartment Therapy’s January Cure, a free program to help you reset your home for the year ahead. You’ll receive a guided plan and tools to achieve your goal of a cleaner, more organized, and refreshed home.

What Is the January Cure?

The January Cure is a free 18-day program to help you reset your home for the year ahead. The program starts on Wednesday, January 3, 2023, and ends on Friday, January 26, 2024 — with assignments rolled out Monday through Friday (weekends are excluded). Participants will receive a daily task in their inbox; each one will focus on cleaning, decluttering, or refreshing their home.

It’ll be guided by me, Stephanie Nguyen, Apartment Therapy’s cleaning and organizing editor — and I’ve invited some incredible guests to help us elevate our homes. Here’s a sneak peek at our lineup of “guest cure-ators,” who’ll be sharing their expert tips throughout the program.

  • Jennifer Johnson is the founder and owner of The Orderly Space, a professional organizing business based in Washington State
  • Apartment Therapy’s Executive Home Director, Danielle Blundell
  • Apartment Therapy’s Home Projects Director, Megan Baker Detloff
  • Becky Rapinchuk is the “Clean Mama,” sharing her cleaning routines, homekeeping tips, and ideas with her audience
  • Sophie Liard started “The Folding Lady” at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to share her folding and merchandising skills with others online

How Do I Join?

Joining is quick and easy: You can either sign up with your email in the box below or on this sign-up page. Then we’ll send those assignments straight to your inbox, starting on Wednesday, January 3 until January 26, 2024 (weekends excluded). You can also join our SMS program and receive all 18 tasks via text message.

What Can I Expect?

A refreshed home in under three weeks! You can expect to do some cleaning and decluttering, as well as focus on key home projects. The January Cure begins with the easy and fun task of creating a vision board for your home. Then, some days we’ll be tackling messes, and others we’ll be revamping rooms. It all comes to an end on the last Friday of the month, and we’ll spend that day celebrating all we’ve accomplished.

It’s all about making positive changes to your home — at your own pace, of course. If you need to skip a day, spend extra time on one task, or have any trouble along the way, it’s OK to take a step away and come back another day. This process should work for you. Feel free to tackle each day with us, have a catch-up day, or rework tasks to fit your schedule. (It might be called the January Cure, but many others have continued to do tasks beyond the month of January!)

What Can I Do in the Meantime?

The January Cure is such a wonderful opportunity to restore some order in your home so you’ll feel well-equipped for all that 2024 has in store for you. We hope to see you on January 3 when the program launches.

Looking for something to do in the meantime? You can peruse our 2023 Organization Awards for the best home organizing problem-solvers, in case you’re in the mood to get some light organizing done ahead of the new year.

The Cure Program is a tradition here at Apartment Therapy — it happens every January, April, and September. Click here to learn more about the year-round program and when to sign up.
