What is the January Cure?

The January Cure is a free month-long group class guided by me—Taryn Williford, Apartment Therapy’s cleaning editor and your personal organizing fairy. Starting on Jan. 6, I’ll be sending you doable daily assignments every weekday throughout the month of January.

What Can I Expect?

Mainly: A better, cleaner home for the year ahead. The idea is that we take a big goal—getting organized for the new year—and break it down into bite-size tasks.

One day we’ll be decluttering a single drawer, while the next day I might ask you to make a to-do list of home projects you want to finish. And some days, when I know you’re ready for it, we’ll be tackling big messes like the bathroom cabinets or the clothes closet. But the best part is we’re all doing it together, and I’ll be here helping you every step of the way with the best tips and advice that a decade at Apartment Therapy has taught me.

To prove that the Cure really works, you just have to hear from some of our Cure graduates from years past:

  • “I started participating in the Cure in 2013 and it’s made a big difference [for] clutter control without being overwhelmed. I love the timed projects which get me started and then want to do more.” —citygirlarts
  • “Whew! I smile when I look at my freshly-potted plants, clearer surfaces, and reclaimed floor-space in the bedroom. Whoop-whoop to everyone, and THANK YOU Taryn!” —audreycc
  • “Funny thing is, once you’ve done the Cure a few times, the Cure spirit sets in as soon as you’ve signed up. You know, when you suddenly start clearing things that have been sitting in the way for weeks [and] when you look forward to cleaning out drawers.” —hennymats

Join now, and I’ll see you again on Jan. 6!
