It's been a minute since Jennifer Garner's Alias and 13 Going On 30 days, but the star is hardly finding it tough to stay relevant. Her amazing response to the GIF of her realization at the Oscars notwithstanding, the actress has a truly wonderful Instagram series where she reads children's books to her golden retriever, Birdie.
While it's absolutely worth a watch to hear the mom of three (four, if you count Birdie) read a selection of stories to a pup, we're also loving the glimpse of her stylish library.
In a recent video, Garner and Birdie curl up in a classic leather armchair next to a fireplace, which is also surrounded by chic tufted benches. The minimal built-in bookshelves are all white, and an Eames ottoman sits to the right of the frame. In the background is a mid-century, atomic style bench upholstered in white in front of a window, paired with an industrial wood dining table with an adjustable wrought iron base.
Birdie asked me to mention #ReadAcrossAmerica Day, because the best gift you can give your dogs...ummm, kids...is to read to them— even if they're drawing or building legos while you do it! #BooksWithBirdie #readtoyourpups #mjusi • It's extra rainy and dreary today in LA. Here are some of our favorite stories for a cozy, comforting afternoon: -The Quiltmaker's Journey by Jeff Brumbeau, illustrated by Gail de Marcken *One of my fave stories about generosity of spirit. -Root Beer and Banana by Sarah Sullivan, illustrated by Greg Shed *One of the best books about friendship. -On Mother's Lap by Ann Herbert Scott, illustrated by Glo Coalson *A reassuring book for kids with growing families. -Mama Panya's Pancakes by Mary & Rich Chamberlin, illustrated by Julia Cairns *I love this story of community and a boy's faith in his friends.
This isn't the first time Jennifer has given us a peek into her home; her kitchen is the set of her pretend cooking show, where she's on a quest to create the perfect bagels as she channels her inner Ina Garten.
It's all quite charming, and we're digging her classic kitchen combination of marble(esque? Could be an engineered stone because who wants to deal with staining when you have kids) meets subway tile. Plus, it's encouraging that not even genetically perfect humans like Jennifer Garner are amazing at everything the first time around.
