Hey Upper East Siders, Jessica Szohr Has Released a “Gossip Girl” Podcast
It may be almost 15 years since teen drama “Gossip Girl” first hit our screens, which thrusted Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, and co. into the limelight, but the love for the series isn’t going anywhere. There’s a HBO reboot of the original show that flipped former stereotypes on its head (Brooklyn is now the place to be), and there’s even an annual holiday, National Gossip Girl Day, on Jan. 26 that marks the OG series airing 100 episodes.
To commemorate the day and everything “Gossip Girl,” Jessica Szohr, who played Vanessa Abrams, has released a “Gossip Girl” podcast, aptly named “XOXO with Jessica Szohr“. Hosted in partnership with iHeartRadio, the podcast revisits the much-loved TV series, touching on memories with the cast and crew and tackling those burning questions that fans have always wanted to know (was he meant to be Gossip Girl all along?).
“I have some VERY exciting news! On January 26th, my new @iheartradio podcast, XOXO, will be premiering,” Szohr wrote in an Instagram post announcing the show. “I’ll be talking all things #GossipGirl with cast members and other special guests. Click the link in my bio to subscribe so you don’t miss out on #GossipGirlDay!”
During the debut episode, Szohr sits down with “Gossip Girl” creators and executive producers, Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, to talk about the show’s beginnings and the hows and whys of casting each character.
Schwartz revealed that he originally spotted Szohr at a party and knew she would be right for the part, not knowing if she was “even an actress”. “We were in the process of beginning the casting process of Vanessa; I opened the door, you [Szohr] were standing there, and I was like ‘Vanessa!’,” Schwartz said.
From reminiscing on favorite scenes to insider info, fans can expect an exciting and informative show that will feature plenty of celebrity guests, including Ed Westwick (Chuck Bass), Taylor Momsen (Jenny Humphrey), Sebastian Stan (Carter Baizen), Kelly Rutherford (Lily van der Woodsen), and many more.
You know you’ll love it, XOXO.
“XOXO with Jessica Szohr” is available to listen via iHeartRadio and all major streaming platforms.
