Making a house into a home must run in the family. Joanna Gaines’ sister Mikey just opened her very own “retro plant shop” called Ferny’s—a dream she’s had since she was in college. Working out an aquamarine-striped vintage camper, Mikey hosted her first plant pop-up shop over the weekend, and your next Magnolia-themed trip to Waco should definitely revolve around Ferny’s pop-up shop schedule.

“A couple things I love so much…my baby sis and watching someone pursue what makes them come alive. So you can imagine how I’m feeling today as these two things come together!!!” Jo captioned a May 1 Instagram post. “Mikey has had this dream for years and with six kids and the busyness of life, she’s waited patiently to step out and pursue this creative and quiet stirring in her heart. But today she’s going for it!”

She continued, “Mikey’s sense of wonder and heart for adventure mixed with her love of plants and vintage finds have helped her create something truly special. I can’t wait to see all that she does with @fernysretroplantshop.”

In her own heartfelt Instagram post, Mikey explained how long this dream has been sitting in the back of her mind.

“About 21 years ago when I was in college I started dreaming of having a little shop…I had dreams of traveling around the country in an old camper searching for all sorts of vintage finds to sell at the shop,” Mikey wrote in the caption of a May 3 Instagram post. “That little desire never went away. But I tucked it away bc I was raising these beautiful babies, and David was in med school/residency. And I knew that was where I needed and wanted to be.”

She wrote, “But a couple years ago I started to really dream again. And it’s been so fun! And also a little scary. I thought it was going to be a coffee shop that sold all these fun plants (maybe one day!) but today it was out of my little 1967 Yellowstone Cavelier and it felt perfect and just right.”

Mikey thanked those who came out to support Ferny’s first pop-up event, during which she sold a variety of different plants in unique, vintage planters that she’s collected over the years.

She also thanked her big sister Jo for helping her pull Ferny’s together before the shop’s grand opening.

To stay in the know about future Ferny’s popup shopping events, give Mikey’s Instagram page a follow. She’ll be toting her Ferny’s trailer around to different locations in and around Waco, Texas, and no doubt she’ll sell out of her wares as soon as she says, “come on in!”
