I’ve been in a years-long standoff with my living room. The culprit? Blankets, books, remotes, charging cables; the kind of low-grade clutter that piles up on every flat surface and makes a space feel chaotic no matter how often you tidy it. I’d been eyeing coffee table ottomans for ages, but most felt like a trade-off: The stylish ones lacked storage, and the ones with storage looked like they belonged in a college dorm. So when I finally landed on the Joybird Anton Storage Ottoman in Harper Cinnamon, I felt like I’d found a bit of a furniture unicorn.

What Is the Joybird Anton Storage Ottoman?

The Anton is a large, overstuffed storage ottoman from Joybird — the direct-to-consumer furniture brand known for its mid-century-leaning designs and extensive fabric customization options. The version I chose is upholstered in Harper Cinnamon, a warm, burnt-orange woven fabric that leans earthy and relaxed without veering into anything too bold. It’s the kind of color that reads differently depending on the light: copper-toned in the afternoon sun, a deeper terracotta in the evening.

The ottoman measures 31 inches wide by 25 inches deep by 20 inches tall, making it substantial enough to use as a coffee table since there’s plenty of surface area for a tray, a stack of books, or snacks. Flip open the top and you’re greeted with a hidden storage compartment measuring 26 inches wide by 18 inches deep by 7 inches tall. It’s not cavernous, but it holds a surprising amount: throw blankets, board games, all the stuff that tends to migrate to the couch.

The legs are a clean 3-inch walnut-finish wood, which elevates the whole piece off the floor and keeps it from feeling heavy or blocky. The silhouette is clean and squared-off, with a slightly overstuffed top cushion that makes it work just as well as a footrest or extra seat.

What Makes the Joybird Anton Storage Ottoman Worth It

The first thing I noticed when it arrived, via Joybird’s white-glove in-home delivery, was how well-made it felt. The upholstery is taut and even, the seams are clean, and the lid has a satisfying solidity to it; it doesn’t rattle or shift when you open it. For a piece of furniture that doubles as a surface you’ll put your feet on, sit on, and pile things on top of, durability matters, and the Anton feels built for it.

The Harper Cinnamon fabric has held up beautifully to daily life. It doesn’t show every crumb the way velvet would, and it hasn’t pilled or flattened after months of use. The weave has a slightly nubby texture that adds visual interest without being fussy.

What really won me over, though, is how much the Anton has done for the room itself. Before, I had an open basket for blankets that somehow always looked messy regardless of how neatly I folded them. Now everything is out of sight, the living room reads as calmer and more intentional, and I haven’t lost a single remote. The surface is just the right height to rest your feet comfortably while sitting on the sofa, and when I have guests over, it’s easy to pop a serving tray on top and use it as a makeshift coffee table.

One honest note: The storage compartment is more shallow than it looks. At 7 inches deep, you’re not hiding bulky items: Chunky knit throws that don’t compress well will be a tight fit. For flat things (think: extra linens, magazines, game boxes), it’s perfect. For anything oversized, you may want to manage expectations.

At the current sale price of $734 (down from $1,049), it’s an investment, but one that genuinely pulls double duty. If you’ve been circling the “stylish storage ottoman” problem for a while, the Anton is an easy answer.
