Kate Hudson Might Make You Consider a Patterned Couch
When we ask you to think of what your dream couch looks like, chances are you’re not thinking of a quirky colored, botanical-printed sofa, right? In a world where neutral colors, clean lines, and simplicity are mainstream, the idea of a patterned sofa immediately makes one think of your grandparents’ house circa 1975. But, you may just change your mind about introducing a patterned sofa to your space once you see Kate Hudson’s family room couch.
On Dec. 23, Hudson posted a photo of her kids cuddled up on the couch next to the Christmas tree and captioned the adorable snapshot “Love all around.” And the couch pictured is certainly a scene-stealer.
Within her home decor, Hudson has gone all-in with the shabby-chic aesthetic: She opts for wallpaper over paint, chandeliers over standard lighting, and mixed patterns over serene color schemes. And this sectional, upholstered in a blue floral and animal-print (is that a kookaburra?) fabric, fits right in to that country house look.
Of course, if you’re one for a more modern design in your home, a printed sofa may not work with your overall aesthetic. But, for those who lean more eclectic and cottagecore, going with a floral print, as Hudson has, can add more personality to your space and make your couch look more unique and expensive.
Because printed couches have slipped into the shadows, they are often hard to come by in furniture stores, which is why shopping secondhand may be your best bet. Or, keep the couch you have or thrift one in good shape, and put your budget toward getting it reupholstered in a fabric that speaks to you. This way you can save a little while still getting a piece of furniture that is one-of-a-kind and perfect for your space.
