Deep-cleaning my shower is definitely not my favorite chore, but I do love having a sparkling clean bathroom. Recently, I found a trick that keeps things looking fresh without much effort. Instead of waiting until grime builds up, I take just a minute before (or after) my shower to do a light scrub with a dish wand, a hack I first discovered on Apartment Therapy.

Why I Use a Kitchen Dishwand to Clean My Shower

The Scotch-Brite Dishwand is technically a kitchen tool, but it works just as well in the bathroom. It has a hollow handle that you fill with soap or cleaner, and a brush head that dispenses it as you scrub. In the kitchen, it’s meant for dishes, but in the shower, it’s great for quickly swiping down tile, tubs, and glass doors.

Why I Love This Hack

I like to use this dish wand for daily or every-other-day upkeep. Here’s why I love this hack so much.

It protects my hands.

The long handle saves my manicure and makes it easy to reach tricky corners, while the bristles are sturdy enough to tackle soap scum but flexible enough to get into grout lines.

I can add in my own cleaner.

I also love that I can customize what goes inside the wand — I keep mine filled with a 1–to–1 mix of Dawn dish soap and white vinegar, which makes grime disappear in seconds. Each fill of the wand lasts about three weeks.

It’s easy to use and store.

When I spot a little buildup, I press the button to dispense cleaner, give the tile a quick scrub, and rinse it off while I’m already showering. For storage, I just hang it on a suction hook in the shower so it’s always within reach.

This tiny daily habit keeps buildup from ever getting out of control, makes my bathroom feel fresher for longer, and saves me from dreaded marathon cleanups. The Scotch-Brite Dishwand may have been designed for the kitchen, but it’s become a total game-changer in my shower.
