This Savvy Kitchen Organizing Hack Creates Storage Space out of Thin Air
Even if you don’t live in a small space, finding enough storage in your kitchen can feel like a constant battle. Whether you’re struggling to fit your cleaning supplies and Ziploc bags under your sink, or you’ve got some awkward empty space at the top of your fridge that you don’t know what to do with (but plenty of things to put away), TikTok is the ultimate destination for finding creative storage solutions that don’t take a lot of time and effort to try.
Case in point: A file holder hack is going viral because it uses storage space on the inside of your cabinet door that you probably didn’t realize you have.
TikTok creator @TheFlippedPiece showed off her DIY storage fix in a video shouting out her top home hacks for an organized house. All you need is a file organizer — she uses a mesh wire one, but a solid metal or plastic one would also work as long as they aren’t too heavy — and Command adhesive strips.
She placed the Command strips on the side of her file folder, one in the middle of the taller side and one in the middle of the smaller side. Next, she lined her file holder up in the inside of her kitchen cabinet door, and attached it by pressing firmly against the adhesive. Like @TheFlippedPiece, you can fill it with foil, cling wrap, or Ziploc bags, or you can use it as storage for sponges, plastic bags, or cleaning supplies.
Just keep in mind that the largest Command strips can only hold objects up to a weight of 20 pounds, while smaller strips hold less, so you might want to reserve your actual cabinet for heavier stuff like dishwasher tablets and all-purpose cleaning spray.
This TikTok file holder hack is technically for the kitchen, but you can also use it to store face sheet masks and travel-size toiletries in your bathroom cabinet, mail or remote controls in your TV console door, and scarves and belts in the inside of your closet door. It’s prime storage space you would otherwise not be using, so get creative with it.
