Kristen Bell is Here to Remind You That You Can Recycle LEGO
Whether you’re decluttering your space, the kids have moved out, or you just have too many brightly hued building blocks, it may be time to part ways with your LEGO. And Kristen Bell, who is a self-confessed recycling super fan, is bringing attention to the company’s Replay scheme.
The actress took to Instagram earlier this week to share her latest discovery with her followers, explaining that LEGO pieces can actually be sent back and donated to one of several charity partners.
“This is a #PSA I am obsessed with recycling. I’m always looking for some new way to reuse anything and everything around my house. I’m constantly looking into new recycling facilities (like @terracycle) because recycling gets really tricky when you mix plastics in one single item and sometimes I can’t sleep at night unless I know where all our waste is going,” she wrote in the post’s caption. “It’s a lovely preoccupation, and a great way to procrastinate all of your actual to do list. BUT I do love when companies make it really easy. Nice work, @lego!”
Bell explained that, to return your LEGO, all you need to do is visit the website, print out a pre-paid postage label, pack up your Bricks, and ship them off! The bricks will then be sent to LEGO’s charity partners, including Teach For America and Boys & Girls Club of Boston, to allow kids to play, build, and let their imaginations run wild. Donations don’t need to be full sets, and currently accepted pieces include LEGO System, DUPLO and Technic Bricks, LEGO Minifigures and Mini-dolls, and LEGO Baseplates.
The LEGO Replay scheme is part of the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainability. LEGO aims to make all of its LEGO Bricks from sustainable sources by 2030, without compromising on quality or safety, as well as “taking urgent action” to make all of its packaging sustainable by 2025.
