Since I wear makeup almost every day, I try to take extra-special care of my skin. Sure, I have my lazy days, but for the most part, I stick to a regular routine. Skincare can get pricey, though, even without splurging on expensive products. The little things add up, too — like cotton rounds. These essentials have been a must-have item in my bathroom for years, and while they aren’t exactly expensive, I find myself buying them way more often than I’d like. Powering through a 100-count pack of cotton rounds in less than a month was starting to feel incredibly wasteful, so I looked into alternatives and found LastRound Reusable Cotton Rounds.

LastRounds are to cotton rounds what mini Swedish dishcloths are to paper towels — the design is similar to disposable cotton pads, but you can machine wash and reuse them more than 1,000 times! They’re made from 30 percent cotton and 70 percent wood fibers, so they’re stiff when dry and soft when wet. Each pack comes with seven facial rounds, along with a travel case to take them on the go. I’ve been applying toner to my face with my LastRounds every day for months, and (while they’ve turned from bright white to slightly gray) the pads are nowhere near wearing out. Score!

If you’re going to make the jump to LastRound, my advice is to start with at least two packs. Seven rounds are great for a week, but you want to have another set handy in case you don’t have time to do laundry every week. Plus, if you use a LastRound for nail polish, it’s recommended that it’s only used for that purpose. I throw my used pads into the wash in a mesh laundry bag and let them air dry. Though they don’t dry exactly flat, but they will still fit in their carrying case when I pack them for a trip. At home, my LastRounds love in an apothecary jar that fits 14 rounds with room to spare.

Since I started using LastRound, I haven’t once had to think about replacing my cotton rounds. My skin looks and feels as fresh as ever, and my wallet (and the planet!) will thank me in the long run.
