LEGO’s New Art Kits Are Meant to Hang On Your Wall
Pop culture and your favorite toy brick have collided to create a pretty cool pastime for adults. The LEGO Group just rolled out LEGO Art sets, a collection of art, music, and film-inspired wall art building kits. The 2D tile artwork portraits feature images that will absolutely appeal to fans of Andy Warhol, Marilyn Monroe, The Beatles, Marvel and “Star Wars.”
Each set contains a blank canvas that contains tiny base plates that link together along with multi-colored pieces to create artwork bearing the image of your pop culture icon of choice. Once the kit is completely assembled, you can display your LEGO handiwork by hanging the final product in your home or office. Additionally, each kit comes with a special soundtrack to inject a bit more of fun and background information into the creative process.
Among the collectible sets are the 3,332-piece, 4-in-1 Andy Warhol’s Marilyn Monroe, inspired by the artist’s renowned 1967 screenprint of the iconic actress and accompanied by an audio that includes interesting tidbits about Warhol.
Then, there’s the 3-in-1 Marvel Studios Iron Man that gives builders the option of creating either MARK III, the HULKBUSTER MARK I or the MARK LXXXV, or combining three of the same sets for one huge homage to Marvel. The accompanying audio includes behind-the-scenes deets about the film sets from Marvel experts.
The Beatles, a 4-in-1, of 2,933 piece-set. Good news is if you don’t want to choose between your favorite members, you don’t have to! Each set contains John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, or Ringo Starr plus a soundtrack of music and stories about the band.
Finally, there’s the Star Wars The Sith, a 3-in-1, 3,395-piece set that features the Sith, with Darth Vader, Darth Maul or Kylo Ren artwork. Or for the ultimate Star Wars flex, you can combine all the sets to create a Darth Vader piece.
The collectible sets will be available September 1 on LEGO.com and in LEGO Retail Stores along with other retailers with the exception of the Marvel Studios Iron Man set, which will be a LEGO Retail Stores and LEGO.com exclusive starting on August 1.
