LEGO Just Announced a Disney Train and Station Set, So All Aboard
If you’re a Disney fan that also loves LEGO, we have some exciting news. The toy company announced today that its latest set brings you right to the park, in the form of the Disneyland train and station in Anaheim, California.
The signature set contains 2,925 pieces, among them a 20-piece oval-shaped track to accompany a motorized steam-style locomotive with passenger car and a posh parlor car, plus and a Disney Parks station building. Also included are five iconic Disney miniature characters-turned-LEGO figurines: Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Chip, and Dale.
As can be expected, a collaboration between LEGO and Disney yielded a set with some pretty impressive details. For starters, the locomotive has a red fender and wheels with coupling rods, along with a driver’s cab and smoke stack; the train cars can be connected with magnetic couplings, and the passenger car is equipped with enough seating to accommodate all five of the mini-figures. The parlor car has a removable panel, revealing an interior outfitted with armchairs, a table, a teapot and cup.
The train station exterior has a balcony, a clock and two flagged towers; its interior features notable design details like brick furniture and draped windows, a chandelier, a wall clock and a LEGO tower that houses a “LEGO Disney surprise.”
Additionally, the set can be controlled via Bluetooth using the LEGO Powered Up app. Functions like locomotive movement and sound effects can be controlled through a smartphone.
For LEGO and Disney fans who are probably already making space for their train sets, the dimensions for the train measures 4” high, 30” long and 3” wide; the station measures just over 15” high, 14” wide and 6” deep; the track is 37” long and 27” wide.
LEGO VIP members can purchase the train set from LEGO stores or directly from LEGO.com on August 21, while the rest of us can grab ours on September 1.
