LEGO Announced a Succulents Collection That You’ll Never Have to Water
Why get your mom a bouquet of flowers that will only last a few days when you can get her one that can last forever?
LEGO has announced two new additions — an orchid and a set of succulents — to its Botanicals Collection of artificial florals that you build instead of grow. The first one is a 608-piece, 15-inch-high orchid that features six large flowers and two smaller newly-opened buds, with the bloom potted inside a blue fluted vase.
“A challenge with this set was creating a cylindrical pot from LEGO elements that would be fun to build but also beautiful to look at,” said lead designer Michael Psiaki.
Fun fact: the orchid was inspired by a real one in the LEGO office. And while the artificial version might not be scented like the original, it sure just as elegant.
The second set features a 771-piece arrangement of nine succulent varieties, including a couple of cacti and what looks to be aloe. You can choose to group the plants together to form a mini garden on a shelf, or space them out to add pops of color around the house.
Best of all? No watering or sunlight needed. Your mom can enjoy the aesthetic of having “greenery” around, minus the stress that comes with keeping houseplants alive.
“Perfect as a thoughtful gift for a plant lover or for adding the finishing interior design touches, the new sets are designed to provide an immersive building experience for adults that lets creativity bloom,” the company said.
The orchid and succulents join a wide collection of LEGO botanicals such as tulips, roses, sunflowers, bird of paradise, and even bonsai. The new sets are priced at $49.99 each, to be made available on May 1, just in time for Mother’s Day.
