I’ve been testing and writing about bedding for more than a minute and, while I hate to admit it, it’s made me kind of a pillow snob. I’m a side sleeper (if you can relate, we side sleepers demand maximal pillow support every night), so maybe I was a bit of a pillow snob to begin with, but after years of sleeping on everything from the very special buckwheat-filled sobakawa pillow I picked up in Tokyo to high-tech memory foam options, I still hadn’t really settled on a favorite pillow. That is until I was introduced to the very budget-friendly Lauren Ralph Lauren Down Alternative Pillow.

This particular pillow made our Best List, and despite personally hearing rave reviews from multiple AT staffers, I was still a bit skeptical. A great pillow for under $15 seemed pretty unlikely to me. But given the affordable price point, I decided to give it a try. And, dear readers and fellow side sleepers, I’m glad I did.

I first bought just one Lauren Ralph Lauren Down Alternative Pillow to try it out, but after a single night of blissful sleep, I ordered three more the very next day. Despite its wallet-friendly price tag, this pillow delivered all the support and breathability that I was seeking in a quality pillow, and its super-soft, luxe cotton cover was just the cherry on top. After sleeping with these pillows every night for well over a year, they’re still just as supportive and comfy as when I first got them.

This pillow is definitely my go-to, but it’s not just for side sleepers. There are medium, firm, and extra-firm (my personal fave) options available to accommodate any sleep style, all of which are currently on sale at Macy’s, starting at just $11.99 (normally $20). Given how affordable and comfortable this pillow is, my recommendation is to stock up now and stash one or two backup pillows in your linen closet for overnight guests or replacement pillows for yourself in the long run. Or at the very least, buy just one and take it for a slumber-drive — I promise you’ll wake up refreshed!
