Name: Matthew & Rick
Location: Toronto, Ontario

Designed by Toronto-based interior design firm Heirloom & Knot, and decked out for the holidays, this glamorous space strikes the right balance between festive geode-inspired décor & regency styled furnishings. The home of newlyweds Rick and Matthew Bettencourt has been furnished over time & curated with mementos that have a sense of personal history. Embracing bold patterns, colors & textures, this downtown home features a collection of custom furnishings and textiles from the design firm’s exclusive collaborations with indie textile manufacture Spoonflower.

Juxtaposed in front of the heritage fireplace, vintage Lion & Frost dining chairs flank the iconic Saarinen dining table. Dressed with a mix of malachite and geometric dinnerware, the tablescape for this space features an assortment of indigo colored glassware and semi-precious accents like agate place cards customized by Cecile Lau Calligraphy. The dining room is pulled together with a nine foot black and gold ombre Christmas tree and accented with an overflowing bar cart curated with party-friendly libations.

To celebrate the season of high opulence throughout the home, touches of Versace-esque leopard prints have been used in combinations with highly contrasted black & white motifs to create a dramatic look. Renowned for their nostalgic vibe, the Heirloom & Knot aesthetic has always been drawn as much from intuition as tradition, finding inspiration in vintage details & treasured family memories.

Thanks, Matthew & Rick!
