A new study has revealed the most popular paint color right now on Instagram. No, it’s not Pantone’s combination of Ultimate Gray and Illuminating, but rather, Farrow & Ball’s Hague Blue.

According to the experts at from DIYS.com, the deep blue-green shade topped the list with 46,589 hashtags. That’s double the hashtags of second place Stiffkey Blue (23,872), also from Farrow & Ball. Other paint colors that made the top 10 include Little Greene’s French Grey (15,309), Benjamin Moore’s Hale Navy (11,314), and Dulux’s Denim Drift (10,322).

Asked why homeowners are so into Hague Blue, psychologist Lee Chambers explained: “A deep and rich blue with green undertones, it promotes both calm, confidence and a feeling of being grounded, which in the middle of a pandemic makes it increasingly popular.” He added, “It also has a nostalgic feel, providing a certain comfort in these uncertain times.”

Thinking of painting with Hague Blue? Here are a few homes that’ll convince you to hop on this trend, too.

Hague Blue brings out the beauty of natural materials. Pretty cool how a dark color can add lightness to a room.

It’s so low-key, it helps create a focal point. Just look at the marbling on that counter.

Definitely paw-pular with this dog.

It looks good on shelves, too; It will really make your library stand out.

Add bright colors for a bold contrast (yellow would look great, too).

The foyer before (swipe above for photos) was a bit plain, but Hague Blue upped the drama.

It creates a great backdrop for plants plants. Anyone else getting Diagon Alley vibes?

Possibly the best feature is how relaxing it is. In this hard year, who doesn’t want a space that adds some chill?
