New Mom Serena Williams Lists Her Bel Air Bachelorette Pad for $12M
Serena Williams is having the best year ever: after winning both singles and doubles at Wimbledon in 2016, the tennis star announced that she and soon-to-be husband — Reddit and Hipmunk founder Alexis Ohanian — were about to welcome their first child together. And now that baby is here, Williams’ bachelorette pad in Bel Air’s “poshly rustic” Stone Canyon is on the market for $11.995 million.
Then-single Williams purchased the six bedroom, seven bathroom, 6,100 square foot Hollywood Regency style home back in 2006 for $6.612 million. The property sits on a gated 2.7 acres, but is shockingly missing tennis courts — though the swimming pool does seem to be the star of the show.
It’s location, location, location for this (slightly underwhelming) home, which was originally built in 1935 but has been renovated several times over the years to the point that few if any original interior architectural elements remain. Welcome modern updates include the marbled chef’s kitchen and master bath, however, and natural light fills most rooms, and two of the bedrooms feature private balconies.
Little Miss (#bornfeminist) Alexis Olympia Ohanion, Jr. received the most adorable welcome from her parents on Instagram, in the form of an original doodle drawn by dad (who penned the famous logos for his two startups himself). No doubt, their new family-friendly pad will feature the most adorable baby’s room. And maybe even those tennis courts, so mom can practice closer to home.
According to Variety, Williams — an entrepreneur in her own right with an athleisure line selling on HSN — plans to relocate at least part-time to San Francisco with tech mogul Ohanian, who just last month sold his four-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath condo in a vintage Victorian duplex near San Francisco’s Alamo Square for $2.215 million.
Williams also owns several other properties in Paris (she speaks fluent French) and Florida, and up until recently co-owned an apartment in Midtown Manhattan with her sister and favorite courtside rival, Venus.
