Model and content creator Sixtine Rouyre is no stranger to moving apartments in New York City. In fact, she moved into seven different flats during the course of seven years. While I’m tired just typing that (I can only imagine how she felt), the constant shuffle gave Sixtine some valuable skills to use when it was time to move again three years ago. “I knew what I was looking for and what was a ‘good apartment,’” she explains.

Sixtine and her roommate at the time looked at over 40 apartments on StreetEasy until she came across a two-bedroom unit in the East Village that piqued her interest. Sixtine’s roommate was at work, and the broker left the apartment unlocked, so she toured it alone.

“When I walked into this apartment, I knew immediately it was the one,” Sixtine, who has shared clips of her home on TikTok, explains. “For the East Village, it was practically a gem: huge bedrooms that were separated by a large living room, ample kitchen storage, a balcony, and lots of south-facing windows.”

The connection was so strong that Sixtine waited in the apartment for her roommate to get off work and see the place. That day, she completed the home application while sitting on the bare living room floor. She was tired of moving and knew this was the space for her (plus her cat, Levi, and her sister’s cats, Richie and Henry).

“I wanted a space that I was going to stay in for more than a year — something I had never done with previous apartments because there was always something I was compromising on,” Sixtine says. “But not with this one!”
