I Tried This Flat Mop That Ensures You’re Always Mopping with Clean Water, and Now I’ll Never Use Another One

When I was a kid, I loved helping my parents mop the house — the kitchen, bathrooms, and then, when my parents had the carpets replaced with tile, pretty much the entire place. The smell of Pine Sol brings me right back to being a kid — seeing chairs propped upside down on top of tables, my mom asking me to not wear shoes in the house. What I loved then about mopping, which was wringing the water out of the mop and then soaking back up that same water, is pretty much the exact same thing that grosses me out about mopping today. The H2prO Flat-Mop System is O-Cedar’s answer to the common mopping problem of using the same water for cleaning. It includes a flat mop, a dual-tank water system where the dirty and clean water are separated, and two slats for the flat mop so you are always mopping with clean water. The system is lightweight, compact, and easy to take apart, clean, and then store away.

To use it, push the flat mop through the first slot. Clean water (along with your floor cleaning solution of choice) is sprayed all over the washable mop head, thanks to the integrated water jets. After you’ve mopped your floors and need to clean the mop, you’ll push the flat mop through the second slot, which squeezes it and pushes the dirty water out into the dirty water tank. Then you can go back to the first slot to replenish with clean water.

Before I got the O-Cedar, I was hesitant to invest in a mop because I’m not positive that my over-100-year-old wood floors in my apartment are sealed, and I only have a small kitchen and bathroom to mop. Thankfully it all worked out!

What I love about the O-Cedar H2prO is that it eliminates what I consider the worst part of mopping: using the same water for cleaning until it gets too dirty so you have to empty it and replenish with clean water. I like that the water tank separates clean and dirty water and that it requires no wringing, which can be hard on your forearms and hands — especially if you have limited mobility.
