Name a better flavor duo than chocolate and peanut butter. I’ll wait. The two are divine in ice cream, creamy spreads, layered desserts, chewy cookies, you name it.

So earlier this month when Oreo and Reese’s announced they were collaborating on an Oreo x Reese’s cookie and a Reese’s x Oreo cup, I RACED (aka swiftly emailed the brands) to snag some more details. I was lucky enough to try some ahead of their official launch (work perks!), and I’m happy to report that this collaboration is everything I dreamed of and more.

What You Should Know About Oreo Reese’s Cookies

Fans have been begging Reese’s and Oreo to collab again, and after a long-anticipated wait (11 years, to be exact) the two companies joined forces to finally give the people what they want: an Oreo cookie stuffed with Reese’s peanut butter.

You might be thinking, doesn’t Oreo already make a peanut butter-filled cookie? Yes, yes it does! That one, however, doesn’t contain Reese’s peanut butter. So if you ask me (and probably millions of others), this is totally different.

The latest limited-edition cookie takes the original collab from 2014 (which featured a half-chocolate, half-peanut-butter filling) to another, more delicious, level. Oreo’s signature chocolate cookies are sandwiched with even more Reese’s peanut butter-flavored creme that’s studded with Oreo cookie crumbs.

While the Oreo Reese’s Cookies aren’t in stores just yet, you can sign up for early access here; they’ll be available for presale August 18 and officially roll out on grocery store shelves nationwide in September. This is a limited run for 2025, but the cookies are set to become a permanent flavor in Oreo’s lineup in January 2026.

My Honest Review of Oreo Reese’s Cookie

As a lover of the classic Oreo cookie and Reese’s cup, I had high hopes for this mash-up. And after one bite, my expectations were exceeded. In fact, it’s easily one of my favorite flavors in the entire Oreo lineup (and that’s after recently trying those incredible Selena Gomez Oreos).

Upon opening the package, a delicious whiff of sweet chocolate and peanut butter instantly filled the office. By visuals alone, I could tell the creme filling was made with Reese’s peanut butter, with little specks of peanuts and Oreo crumbs.

I twisted one open first to taste the creme on its own. It’s thicker and less smooth than the OG Oreo creme and, similar to the center of a Reese’s cup, the filling is more grainy too. The peanut butter flavor is strong and has that classic Reese’s flavor, with some added sweetness from the creme.

It’s the perfect blend of the two. While the Oreo crumbs themselves didn’t provide much flavor on their own, I like the texture they provide.

Combined all together with chocolate sandwich cookies, it has just the right balance. The bitter notes of the chocolate cookie prevent it from being overpoweringly sweet. It’s divine! A match made in heaven. And a perfect display of both Reese’s and Oreo — neither one outshines the other.

If you like to enjoy your Oreos by dipping them in peanut butter (like The Kitchn’s Director, Groceries & Shopping and fan of The Parent Trap, Mara Weinraub, does), let me just say that there’s no need to whip out the jar. “These are excellent” just as they are, Mara says. “The peanut butter reminds me of the one you’d find in one of the Do-si-do Girl Scout cookies. It has a richer, nuttier flavor than the standard peanut butter Oreos.”

“Banger alert!” said Kevin, our finance manager, after one bite. “I could eat the entire package.” They were also a hit with Brian, our executive director, people operations, who simply said the following: “Peanut butter and chocolate heaven.” Need I say more?
